cREATIVE tHERAPY
Working creatively in a therapeutic way can help unlock emotion and release blocks. Creative therapy is a humanistic way of working which is client lead.
Drawing or creating a picture with a none dominant hand can unlock the emotional side of the brain. The process of creating something rather than the finished article is where the power lies in this.
Working with minitures or shells can lead to a deeper exploration of sometimes unnoticed, hidden or blocked thoughts and feelings. Looking at small objects in this way can help unblock feelings and remove barriers leading to an ability to work on particularly difficult areas.
Button work can work in a similar way to the minitures however button work can be more expressive and can be an ongoing piece of work that can give the clients some visual evidence of their own empowerment.
All forms of creative therapy can help when it is difficult to express or find words or when barriers prevent progression.
